Using the file transfer server

Access to the file transfer server allows clients to transfer files via a dedicated server. Only client authorized to access the server can transfer files on the server and download files copied on the server by Dialog Insight. All communications with the file server are encrypted so your data is always transferred securely. When an account is created for a client, no other person other than those authorized by the client can access this account.

PrerequisiteYou must have been granted access to the file transfer server and have received a unique username and password. The file server access authorization is usually granted on demand during a meeting with a member of Dialog Insight's services or sales team.

 How To

Connect to the file server via the Web
  1. From the browser of your choice, access the server at https://secure.repsolution.com/.
  2. From the connection window, type in the username and password provided by Dialog Insight under Username and Password.
  3. Click Sign in.
Connect to the file server with an FTP client

It is also possible to connect to Dialog Insight's file transfer server by using an FTP client such as CuteFTP, FileZilla or WinSCP. This type of access requires however to set additional configuration settings and to know the application.

  1. Regardless of the FTP client used, you will need to provide the following information:
    • Host address: secure.repsolution.com
    • Protocol : SFTP
    • Port : 22
    • And the unique username and password provided.
  2. Following are examples of some common FTP clients:
    • Via CuteFTP  
    • Via FileZilla
    • Via WinSCP
Download a file from the file server to your computer

The download of files consist in taking files copied by Dialog Insight in your account on the file server and to copy them on your computer.

  1. Once connected, you will see a window called Secure Client Access - REP Solution.
  2. In this window, find the file that you want to copy to your computer and click on its name to open or save the file. The window that is displayed, as well as the directory where the file is saved, depend on the browser used.
  3. Select the Save File option.
Copy a file from your computer to the file server

Copying files consist in taking files on your computer to copy them on the file server, often to send them to Dialog Insight.

  1. Once connected, you will see a window called Secure Client Access - REP Solution.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the window to select the Add files... option.
  3. In the file explorer window, locate the file or files to copy by either selecting only one file or by using the CTRL key to select multiple files.
  4. Click Open or drag and drop the files onto the file server window.
  5. Back on the file server window, you will see the list of all the selected files.
     
    • To copy one file at a time, click the Start button next to that file.
    • To copy all files at once, click the Start upload button.
    • To cancel the file transfer in progress, simply click the Cancel button next to the specific file or the Cancel upload button to cancel all file transfers at once.
  6. Files are copied onto the file server and will show in the list of available files.

Rename a file or a folder on the file server

It can be useful to rename a file that is on the server, for various reasons. The most common reason being when you want to copy a file and one already exists on the server with the same name. In such a case, if you do not rename the existing file on the server, it will be replaced by the new file, without any confirmation request.

  1. Once connected, you will see a window called Secure Client Access - REP Solution.
  2. In the list of files, select the file that you wish to rename by clicking in the background of the corresponding line.
    The selected line is highlighted in blue.
  3. Click Rename.
  4. In the Rename File or Folder window, type the new name of the file or folder in the Rename To field.
  5. Click again on Rename.
    The file will then be displayed in the list under its new name, by alphabetical order.
Delete a file from the file server

It is recommended to delete files that are no longer needed or out-of-date to avoid overloading the server unnecessarily.

  1. Once connected, you will see a window called Secure Client Access - REP Solution.
  2. In the list of files, select the file or files to be deleted by clicking in the background of each corresponding line.
    The selected lines are highlighted in blue.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. In the Delete the selected items? window, confirm the deletion by clicking Delete.
Log out

Once all operations are completed, make sure you quit the file transfer server by clicking on the Logoutlink located at the top of the page.

Other possible functions on the file server

Following are other functions that can be performed on the server:

Refresh - Refreshes the page with the most updated information.

New Folder - Allows the user to create a new folder. Folders are created mostly to classify files when there are many of them. All you need to do is type in the name of the folder under Folder and to click Create Directory.
