Adding Domains (Without Assistance)

Adding your domains yourself is complicated and requires some advanced skills. If you do not have a lot of IT resources, we recommend you use domain delegation instead (with this method, you will get assistance).

To start sending emails, you need at the minimum:

  • A sender domain
  • A custom trackers sub-domain
  • A reputation domain

You could also add a custom sub-domain for landing pages (optional).

Prerequisites

Add domain/sub-domain

For each domain or sub-domain, you must first add it in the Domain management section:

Validate the domain/sub-domain

An added domain/sub-domain will appear in the list of Domains to validate. Select the domain and click Validate.

Configure the Domains

Sender Domain (required)

This domain is necessary to be authentified when sending emails. To configure it, start by going into the section Sender domains, then add the validated domain that will be used as a sender domain. When following the instructions, you will have to configure a DKIM signature.

Note that it is recomendended to add a DMARC policy on your side. We cannot do it for you if you opt for this method without assistance. The process is completely external to Dialog Insight's platform. For more information, see our blog article on DMARC

Once the sender domain is added, you could add this domain as an authorized sender for your account.

Custom Trackers Domain (required)

The links you insert in your communications (for example, opt-out forms) will redirect to the custom trackers sub-domain you will add.

Start by going to Custom trackers under Custom domains. Then add a validated sub-domain (it has to be a sub-domain, not a domain).

Follow the instructions in the popup window. Make sure to choose the Custom Trackers option. You will have some configurations to carry out, including DNS entry, SSL certificate and the HSTS protocol.

Custom Landing Pages Domain (optional)

If you want to add a custom link for the redirection of your landing pages, you can add a sub-domain (a sub-domain, not a domain).

First, go to Landing pages under Custom domains. Add a validated sub-domain, then follow the instructions. You have to configure a DNS entry and an SSL certificate. Note that you can have only one custom domain for landing pages per project.

To finish, you will need to configure the custom domain name in the configurations of the Landing Pages module.

Reputation Domain (required)

Once the sender domain and the custom trackers domain (at the minimum) are added and configured, send an email to the support at support@dialoginsight.com. The support will send you the DNS entries to configure on your side for the reputation domain.
