Configuring Integration with Google Analytics

To be able to import into Dialog Insight data originating from your Google Analytics transactional website, you must first authorize communication between the 2 applications. Each E-Commerce application has its own authorization process that must be meticulously followed to establish a proper connection.

Note that the process might slightly differ depending on whether authorizations have already been created or if you want to add a new one.

PrerequisiteThe E-Commerce module must be enabled.
Access Path > Configuration > Relational data > E-Commerce page

 How To

  1. In the Integration section, next to the Google application, click on Activate, if not yet activated, or on Configure to edit the existing connection.
  2. If one or more authorizations exist:
    1. Choose the connection you wish to use.
*Only one Google authorization can be enabled at a time. So if you have multiple connections, you will need to activate/deactivate them as needed.
    2. Click on Save.
  3. If no authorization exists yet:
    1. You must create one.
    2. To do so, click on Create an authorization.
    3. In the Google authorization page, click on Authorize access.
    4. You will be prompted to connect to the Google account from which you want to import transactional data.
    5. Once logged in your account, you must authorize Dialog Insight to access your account, even if your computer is closed. Accept.
    6. Once authorization is done, you will be taken back to Google Analytics authorization page and you should see that the configuration is successful.
  4. Click on Continue.
  5. If you are still connected to your Google account, your account information will automatically be entered. Otherwise, enter the information of the Google account ou wish to import data from. You must specify the name, property and view that correspond to the site to be tracked and to extract data from. If you are using Universal Analytics (GA3) properties, you will need to create a view.
    • Account - This is your access point in Google Analytics.
    • Property - This can be a website, a mobile application or a blog. An account can have multiple properties.
    • View (Universal Analytics only) - This is you access point to reports or a view mode to display a property's data. A property can contain one or multiple views.
  6. Once Google account information are entered, click on Continue.
  7. A page confirming that configuration is complete will display.
  8. Click on Finish.
  9. To be able to associate purchases to sent messages, you need to specify a UTM variable that will serve as an identifier and that will need to be inserted in your messages.
  10. Enter the domain(s) of your transactional website. If you have more than one, enter each one on a separate line.
  11. Click on Save.
