A template is a structure you select as the basis for a new message. You could have a template for your newsletter, for your promotions or a seasonal event like Christmas. The template contains a structure (header, logo, titles, text/image blocks, footer). When you create a new email, you adapt the template content according to the email objective. Since the structure is already set up, all you have left to do is change the placeholder text (lorem ipsum), the images and links and add blocks if necessary.
Step 1: Choose a Starting Point
Go to the email list, then in the configuration menu (the 3 dots in the upper right), select Templates:
Click Create in the upper right. In the window, give a name to your template in order to find it easily and select the communication type to associate and the starting point for the template:
It is strongly recommended that you choose Messages (otherwise, you must create your template in HTML). You will then have 3 options as a starting point:
- My Templates: If you already have templates in this project, you can use them as the basis for a new template.
- DI Templates: Templates created by Dialog Insight to facilitate your creation process. You can click the lens in the center of a template to get a preview (desktop and mobile).
- Existing Emails: You can use an email you created as the basis for a new template.
Be careful with using templates created some time ago Sometimes, we add new features and Element blocks in the email editor. These additions are only available in templates created after the feature release. So, if you created a template before we added a new block, this block won't be available in the edition interface for that template. If you duplicate an email, the template used for that email won't have the new features added after the creation of the original template. Please consult the block list to help you decide if it is better to create an email from a new template. In this list, you can you can see the date of the releases. |
Step 2: Edit the Template
Once in the editor, edit the default blocks and add content with the drag and drop as you would for an email (text, images, buttons, etc.). Don't forget to change the social media links in the buttons in the footer to insert your links. To learn more about the editor, see Creating an Email or Adding Content to an Email.
Step 3: Preview the Email
When the content is ready, you can preview the message by clicking Test:
You will have to add the required information, such as the subject line and sender.
Step 4: Publish the Template
When you are ready to use the template, click Availability:
*If you wish to unpublish your template to make changes or to remove it from the available templates, click Availability.
Results
The template is now available when you create a new email in My templates (see step 1).
