When you add a link in an email, you can assign it a value using an attribute. This value can be used for different reasons, such as categorizing the link or indicating its function (e.g. call to action or information link). Thus, when click statistics are generated after the sending, you can interpret the efficiency of some links according to their attribute(s). The attributes are created at the project level and are available to all emails within that project.

Step 1: Create a Link Attribute
To be able to assign attributes to links in an email, you must first create them. Start by going to the email list and click Link classifications under the 3 dots in the upper right:
Click Create and fill-in the attribute info:In this case, the attribute will be used to categorize links that redirect to the online store. The value to enter for each link will be text and will indicate a sub-category, such as "Clothes" or "Sport" (see the next step for more details). It is only an example. You could use other types of value depending on the case.
Type | Description |
---|---|
Text | Lets you use any alpha or numeric value. |
Number (Integer) | Lets you use only integer numbers. |
Number (Decimal) | Lets you use numbers with decimals. |
True/False | Lets you specify whether it's true or false. For this type, the value registered in the system is 0 or 1. |
Date and time | Lets you specify the date and time in the AAAA.MM.JJ HH:MM format. |
Step 2: Assign the Attribute to Links
Go to the email that contains the link(s) to which you want to assign the attribute. Then, go to the Additional options:
In the link list, go to the link edition:
Indicate the attribute value for this link:
In this case, we assign the Ecommerce attribute with a "Clothes" value to indicate that the link redirects to the online store, more precisely to the clothes section.
If you have the same link several times in the email, you can indicate a value for each instance using the dropdown list. This could be useful to determine which instance is the most clicked. The instances are numbered according to their order of appearance from top to bottom in the email.
Results
Once statistics are compiled for the clicks in an email, you can see results for each attribute.
In the Hyperlinks from the Email Analytics, click the columns icon:
Select the attributes you want to be displayed:
Thus, a column will be displayed for each selected attribute.
