The geolocation feature allows you to collect data on your contacts' locations using 3 methods (postal code, geographical coordinates, and IP address). You can then use this data to segment your contacts by criteria into a group, persona, or score.

Configuration
When configuring the geolocation feature, you have three methods available to locate your contacts. If you use multiple methods, the most accurate one available for each contact will be used.
The geolocation methods will be applied in the following order of priority:
- Location by geographical coordinates
- Location set by postal code
- Location set by IP address
Geolocation Methods | |
---|---|
By postal code | This option lets you position your contacts based on the postal or ZIP code registered in their profile. The info must be available in a project field that is compatible with the selected country. You must select the field in the list to link it to the method. If you have selected more than one country:
|
By IP address | ***This method is only available for emails*** This option lets you position your contacts based on the last IP address used to open an email or a click in an email. When this option is enabled, an IP address field is automatically created and added to your project. This field is not visible in the project's fields list: it is only available for imports. |
By geographical coordinates | This option lets you determine the exact position of your contacts based using geographical coordinates for both longitude and latitude of the location. This is the most accurate of all 3 methods and is used first when enabled. Once enabled, both Longitude and Latitude fields are automatically added to the project. When added, these 2 fields are placed in the last section of the project fields. If needed, you can move them to another section, as you can move any other fields in the project. |
Targeting
In your communications (emails, SMS or Push notifications) or your automated campaigns, you can include a group that targets contacts using the geolocation methods configured in the project.
You can also use geolocation criteria to segment with Personas and Scoring.
