Mobile Push Channel Overview

The Mobile Push channel enables direct communication with users through notifications sent to their mobile devices. A mobile notification is a short message that appears directly on a user’s phone screen, even when the application is not open. It is a fast and effective way to deliver short, personalized, and contextual messages, even when the user is not actively using the app. This channel is part of a multichannel communication strategy aimed at increasing engagement and improving the user experience. It allows you to reach users in real time, at the right moment, based on their context or actions. Notifications can be used for marketing, transactional, or informational communications.

Use Cases

Promotions and Marketing
An online business can use Mobile Push notifications to inform customers about a limited-time promotion or the launch of a new product. This type of message helps drive traffic to the mobile application and increase conversions.

Order Tracking and Transactional Notifications
A delivery application can send a notification to inform users that an order has been confirmed, is being prepared, or is out for delivery. Transactional notifications enable real-time communication of important information.

User Re-engagement
An organization can also use Mobile Push notifications to re-engage inactive users by offering personalized content, promotions tailored to their interests, or reminders to return to the application after a period of inactivity.

Reminders and Events
As part of an event or appointment, a notification can be sent to remind users of an important deadline, confirm a registration, or provide a relevant update a few hours before the scheduled activity.

Alerts and Important Information
Mobile Push notifications can also be used to send important alerts, such as maintenance notices, service interruptions, or security notifications related to user account activity

How Notifications Work

A notification delivery service called Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), developed by Google, enables third-party app developers to send push notifications to apps that are installed on Android and iOS devices.

  1. When your mobile app is installed, the Android or iOS platform asks the notification service for a token ID.
  2. The ID, which serves as the address for the notification delivery, is sent to the app by the FCM.
  3. The application transmits this ID to the delivery platform (Dialog Insight).
  4. With the token IDs, the delivery platform notifies the FCM, which then pushes the notifications to the appropriate devices.

Configuration

Using the Mobile Push channel requires a few initial configuration steps in both Dialog Insight and your mobile environment. First, a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) authorization must be set up to enable the sending of notifications to mobile devices. Next, the mobile application must be configured in Dialog Insight to activate the Mobile Push channel and establish the connection with your app.
