The selected time zone is used as the default value for functions that can be executed according to a time zone, such as planned mailings and automated exports. Where time zone support is enabled, and a time zone other than that of the application is selected, mailings results will also be shown using the time zone selected for the project. Note that when time zones are not supported, Dialog Insight server time is used (Montreal time).

If no time zone configuration is performed in the application, either for the company or for the project, the default time zone used is the system's time:

  • (UTC-05:00) East (U.S. and Canada)

For other accepted time zones, download the Excel file of valid codes.

**Note that these time zone codes are listed based on Daily Saving Time (DST) standards. Therefore, the same UTC can be assigned to different cities, as they do not change time at the same moment, or do not apply DST at all.

Why use a time zone other than the default one?

Using a time zone that is different from the one used by the application gives you the ability to send messages and plan automated extractions as per your own time zone, or any other time zone if your company has offices worldwide. Furthermore, all message related results will be shown according to that same time zone.

The time zone used to display results is always indicated in the header when it is not the same as the one used for the Dialog Insight application.

Where is the time zone shown?

When sending a message

When sending a message, you will have the option to specify whether you want to send the message at contacts' local time.

In message results

Message related results that take into account the date and/or time are displayed as per the same time zone as the project. Therefore, if you have selected a time zone other than that of the for application servers, the results will also be calculated based on this time zone. Time zone information is shown in the header of the result summary page; when the time zone is different, the date of the results, as well as the UTC time standard, are indicated.

In a contact's profile

The time zone applicable to an individual contact can be seen in the profile page, in the header, right under contact information. In the example shown below, the contact has a different time zone and it is indicated.

  4. Chez the Allow message distribution based on contact's local time to offer the ability to send messages at the contact's time, so that each recipient receives the message at the planned time, in the proper the time zone.
For example, if you enable this option and choose the send a message at 8:00 am your time, contacts will receive the message at 8:00 am their time.
  5. Click Save.

Set a contact's time zone

For the contact's time zone to be taken into account, this time zone must have been provided for contacts.

When you want to provide this information for all your contacts, this definition can only be done via import or form ( opt-in or profile update for example). Otherwise, it can be done manually, one contact at a time, in the contact's profile by clicking on the  icon.
