Group criteria - Journey

Criteria related to information gathered through the tracking module are used to create groups based on specific actions taken on pages or messages. We could, for example, create a group of all contacts who have completed a specific form on any of our websites.

SectionCriteriaDescription
Select or ExcludeOption used to specify whether to include or exclude the corresponding contacts from the group.
VisitsSourceSection that offers various options to specify the source of the visit, whether the visit was initiated by a click on a link in a message or the page was accessed directly, from a bookmark or search engine. Depending on the source selected, other options are available. If the search applies to contacts who has visited the page from a link clicked in a message, you'll have the option to select a specific message or mailing using the Specify the messages or Specify the sendings options. If the search is performed from the contacts who have accessed the page directly, the additional options are displayed under the Hits tab.
HitsSpecify an eventOption used to select a specific even from a list of available events.
Specify additional parametersOption used to add additional search criteria by defining other clauses or sub-clauses.
You need here to specify the section of the URL to be searched, as the URL is divided in multiple parts to facilitate searching.
These parts are:
  • Network protocol – Boolean field that determines if the page was accessed through http or https protocol.
    0 = http, 1 = https
  • Page domain name – Text field that contains the complete domain name of the page.
  • Page path – Text field that indicates the path part of the URL, which identifies the actual page visited.
Can be a null value if not present in the URL.
  • Parameters – Text field that identifies the complete query part of the URL, that is, anything starting at the “?”, but excluding the fragment marker.
Can be a null value if not present in the URL
  • Anchor – text field, the fragment part of the url – that is, everything starting at “#”. Can be a null value if not present in the URL.
Specify the URL of the pageOption that lets you enter the specific URL of the visited page.
Viewed productsProduct categoryOption that lets you target contacts who have viewed a specific type of product. To use this option, product categories must have been created and assigned to products.
Product IDOption that let you target contacts who have viewed a specific product by specifying it product identification code.
If you want to create a group with contacts who have viewed more than one product, you just need to create multiple conditions and bind them using the OR operator.

Exclude contacts who have purchased the productIn general, if you want to send a message to contacts who have viewed a given product, you might want to exclude from the group those contacts who have already purchased the product.
Abandoned cartThis section lets you target contacts who had a shopping cart with articles that they did not buy. Using this criteria, you can send these contacts a reminder to let them know of the articles they had showed interest in and ask them if they want to complete their purchase. It is important to specify the date and/or time of the cart was abandoned.
Exclude contacts how have made a purchase since they last abandoned their cartIf you want to create a group with contacts how have abandoned their cart, it might be a good idea to exclude those who have made a purchase since.
