Scenario templates let you easily and quickly created automated marketing scenarios. Each available template is preconfigured with its own scenario frequency, time and target contacts. Therefore, if you use the template as is, you will only need to select the message to be sent, and in some cases, provide the additional information required.

Prerequisite To be able to create scenarios, the Marketing Automation module must be activated for your account.

Select the scenario template
  1. In the Marketing automation page, click on Create a scenario.
  2. A window presenting all the available templates will display. Choose the template you wish to use. If you do not want to use a specific template, select the Custom scenario option to create a scenario from scratch. To learn how to create a custom scenario, please refer to the Creating a Custom Marketing Automation Scenario topic.

Welcome Message Plan to send a welcome message to your new contacts as soon as they are added to your database.
Every day, at 9:00 AM (system time) All contacts who have been created in the 24 hours preceding the start date and time of the scenario. For example, if the scenario is launched on January 13, 2015, at 9:00 AM, a welcome message will be sent to all contacts that were created between January 12, 2015, 9:00 and January 13, 2015, 8:59.
The creation date is a system-defined date and does not correspond to a field you have created for your project.
Welcome Sequence Offer more that a single welcome message. Send additional messages to present your company, services, online tools and more! Every day, at 9:00 AM (system time) All contacts who have been created in the 24 hours preceding the start date and time of the scenario. For example, if the scenario is launched on January 13, 2015, at 9:00 AM, a welcome message will be sent to all contacts that were created between January 12, 2015, 9:00 and January 13, 2015, 8:59. Other scenario messages will be sent based on the set period after the scenario start date.

Birthday Wishes Send personalized wishes to your contacts on their birthday. Every day, at 9:00 AM (system time) All contacts whose birth month and day (specified in the field selected for this purpose) are the same as the month and day of the scenario start date.
Birthday Offer Have a special thought for your contacts on their birthday by sending them a promotional offer. The offer is sent 7 days before the birth date and the reminder on the actual birthday. Every day, at 9:00 AM (system time) All contacts whose birth month and day (specified in the field selected for this purpose) are the same as the month and day of the scenario start date.
Renewal Your contacts have a fixed-term subscription? Send them a reminder before the due date. Every day, at 9:00 AM (system time) All contacts whose subscription end date (specified in the field selected for this purpose) falls 30 days after the scenario start date. For example, if the start date is February 1st 2015, the scenario will send a renewal message to all contacts whose subscription end date is March 3rd 2015. The count is done with 30 actual days, and not just 1 month.
Renewal and Transfer to Telemarketing Send a subscription renewal reminder before its due date. Then send the list of contacts who have not renewed to your telemarketing team for follow-up. Every day, at 9:00 AM (system time) All contacts whose subscription end date (specified in the field selected for this purpose) falls 30 days after the scenario start date. For example, if the start date is February 1st 2015, the scenario will send a renewal message to all contacts whose subscription end date is March 3rd 2015. The count is done with 30 actual days, and not just 1 month.
Purchase Follow-Up Message Send a message to clients who have made a recent purchase to suggest additional products or simply to follow-up on their satisfaction of the product or service.

All contacts who have made a purchase since the last scenario start date AND whose purchase has occurred within 3 days before the scenario start date.

  1. Once the model is selected, click Select.
  2. If other information is required to create the scenario from the template, a new window will display to allow you to specify this information. For example, if you choose to use the Birthday Wishes template, you will need to identify the date field to use to get this date.
Validate the scenario's default properties
  1. The scenario page opens, under the Scenario tab. The status is then in preparation and incomplete.
  2. First, change the default name and description to uniquely identify your scenario.
  3. Review the frequency and time of the scenario. If you want to change them, click Modify.
  4. Then review the configured criteria for selecting the contacts targeted by the scenario, and to whom the message will be sent. To add more criteria, or change them, click Modify.
  5. If needed, assign your scenario to a category if you project has any. Categories are mainly used to group scenarios when you have a lot, or to help configure access permissions.
Select the message to send

For each scenario step that has a message to send, you must specify the message to be used.

  1. Click on the step that has message related action to display the options for this step.
  2. Click on the edit icon.
  3. In the message window, you must specify the message to use. You can choose to send a message already created or a new message designed exclusively for this scenario. If you are not planning on using this message elsewhere, it is recommended to restrict its use to the scenario so that it is not edited by accident.
    • Message dedicated to the scenario
      If you use a message restricted to the scenario, know that you will be creating a new message that will only be available, and editable, THROUGH the scenario. (It will not be displayed will all other messages, and therefore can less be wrongly edited.) When you select a message for the first time for a scenario, click on the add icon  to add and create the new message. However, if your scenario has multiple steps and you already have messages dedicated to the scenario, you will have the option to create a new message by clicking , or choose an existing dedicated message by clicking .
      Creating and editing the message automatically opens the standard editor message, under a separate Edit tab, without exiting the marketing automation window. Once the message is complete, you can easily return to the scenario via the Scenario tab.
    • General message already created
      In this case, you only need to choose a message from the ones that already exist in Dialog Insight by clicking on the selection icon .

Creating a message for a scenario is done exactly the same way as any other standard message. For the complete procedure on how to create messages, please refer to the related topics - either Creating an HTML Message or Creating a Message Using Drag-and-Drop.

  1. If you have created or edited a scenario dedicated message, you can go back to the scenario page by simply clicking on the Scenario tab.
Validate the scenario

Before proceeding to the scenario launch, it is important to review the various steps to make sure your scenario is complete and ready. Validation messages are shown under the Properties tab, in the Validation section. A scenario can only be activated once the validation message indicates No problem detected.

  1. Go to the Properties tab, in the Validation section, to see if there are error messages or warnings.
  2. Correct errors if there are any. An  indicates an error, as a  indicates that the element or branch is incomplete. You can view where are located incomplete elements by checking the Display or Display incomplete elements option.
  3. For a scenario to be considered valid, and to be able to go to the next step, the validation message must show No problem detected.
    When such is the case, the Properties section will also display that the message is in preparation and ready to be activated.
Activate the scenario

Once the scenario is valid and complete, you need to activate it. This is done via the Properties tab, in the Properties section. The link to activate is only displayed if the scenario is complete.

  1. Under the Properties tab, in the Properties section, click on the Activate link show next to the scenario status.
    The scenario is now active and will be launched and executed as per the defined launch date and time, except for scenarios set to be launched manually.
